In computing, HP Storage (formerly HP StorageWorks), a portfolio of Hewlett-Packard (HP) storage products, includes online storage, nearline storage, storage networking, archiving, de-duplication, and storage software. HP has developed many industry-first storage technologies to simplify network storage. HP is a proponent of Converged storage, a storage architecture that combines storage and compute into a single entity. [1]

In August 2011, HP expanded its Converged Storage portfolio with the first federated storage capability to span from entry to high end systems and is available for both HP LeftHand and HP 3PAR storage systems. HP Utility Storage assists IT organizations shift workloads to the right resources within a metro-area, boost utilization by logically pooling thin capacity, and refresh/maintain storage with zero application downtime with HP Peer Motion.

Evaluator Group provides an analysis of HP Peer Motion with Storage Federation.

The HP P10000 HP 3PAR Storage System (V-class) was also introduced and sets the benchmark for storage tier 1 efficiency with new hardware and software.

On June 6, 2011, HP announced several industry-first Converged Infrastructure solutions that improve enterprise agility by simplifying deployment and speeding IT delivery. HP Converged Storage HP Converged Storage is one of the solutions announced.

The HP Converged Storage portfolio includes 3PAR, LeftHand, StoreOnce, and IBRIX Storage Systems.

HP intends Converged Storage to enable solutions designed from federated, scale-out storage software delivered on leading ProLiant and BladeSystem hardware and managed with converged storage, server, and networking orchestration.
